Zola (2021)

About this game

Zola is a 2 player game of annihilation played on a 6x6 board initially covered with two different colored discs in a checkered pattern. On your turn you have two options: Noncapturing move: Step kingwise away from the center of the line you step along. Capturing move: Capture queenwise an enemy not farther away from the center of the line you are moving along. You may only pass if you don't have a move. When only one player has pieces left, that player is the winner. —description from the publisher

Does it fit your group?

• Group size. Strictly 2 players — no more, no fewer.
• Rules load. At 1.7/5 this is a light game — explain it in a few minutes, good for a table that has not played much.
• Age. The publisher suggests 8 and up. That rates the rules rather than the artwork, so judge the box yourself for younger players.
